The Table is a grassroots effort to provide food — and hope — to hungry and homeless people in the Birmingham, Alabama area.  Every Saturday and Sunday, volunteers from the community prepare food in their homes and bring it to a homeless shelter where it served with love to men and women who are in need.  The volunteers bring the food to the table and serve the guests as they would in their own home. The motto of The Table is "Always room for one more."  We want each meal to feel like a family dinner where everyone is welcome. The Table is not an organization in the traditional sense.  There are no officers, no by-laws, and no meetings.  It is a movement, a spirit, that provides love and hope to those in our community who need it the most. Everyone is encouraged to participate.  We especially hope younger people will be a part of The Table.  It is a great opportunity for youth groups to be part of something special.
